Bike to work scheme is opening up again at work and I am looking for an all year round road bike, not to aggressive on the ride, that will be used for winter training, summer set offs and the occasional big ride. Budget is £700 max (I know!) and ideally I would like to invest in the best frame forks and wheels for the budget as the components can always be changed in time.

Probably only get sora at that price with a nice bike would be tempted to get good components tbh and a poorer frame/make

For that money I'd look at ribble bikes and get one of their winter trainer/audax bikes. All round road bikin'
i have a spesh allez, bought 5 years ago for £450 new. The most used bike i have ever had. It was bottom of the range with Sora 16 speed but still works perfectly.
Reckon they are only £550ish now for a similar spec. Really good value.
