[#5334095]

Going back to SPD after a few years of flats so whats out there?

-Non-winter
-Not a race slipper
-Good sole for plenty of hike-a-bike
-Shoe rather than boot
-More laces than velcro/ratchet things
-Will pay upto £70 for the right thing but hoping for cheaper

thanks

Spesh Tahoe pretty much fits the bill for that, I'd say.

Lake MX100 or 102 or something like that, I think that's what they're called anyway! Paid £65 for mine off wiggle I think.

Actually these are what I have http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/lake-mtbtrekking-shoes-mx-102/aid:450844

MX102's they do come up a bit tight though, width wise.

Bendy is better for walking in and hike-a-bike was on the requirements list

I am looking for a good spd shoe for road riding (not a winter boot). Needs to be a firm sole. Any suggestions?

Specialized do a Touring shoe that might suit you. Looks like a road shoe but has MTB style cleat holes. Look for the SportTR.

Bontrager SSRs are very similar to the Tahoe if you have a Trek dealer nearby.

I've just got another pair of those Tahoes ('Sport' IIRC) and they are both comfy and ace for the stuff listed. I'd also have a look at these as they look very good quality close up:

Well based on these I like the look of the Tahoe, Lake MX102 & Scott Boa - plus I've seen the Shimano MT43 which look ok.

I'll have a nip in to Evans at some point this week and see if they have any in to try

Thanks

Shameless plug but I've got a pair of Tahoes in size 11/46 that you could have for £25 posted. e-mail d4vew4lsh at gmail dot com if interested.
