Used SRAM for years, then discovered how good the cheap KMC's were for 8spd...
But I've been 9/10 speed for a long while now so it might have changed.

Just get a cheap KMC 9-speed chain...guaranteed to work with 8-speed and lighter too.
Thinner sideplates, rest is the same old stuff (rollers and pins).
CRC have some good deals going.

The 'brown' (inner links are bronze, outer is silver) kmc 6/7/8 speed one is fine. Shifts well enough on geared bikes and I use them on the singlespeed and never snapped one. Last couple I bought from ebay were about £6.50 each incl postage.
