I'm after a comfortable pair of road shoes for 3-4 hr rides, preferably with a ratchet closure and in the event of rain keep my feet relatively dry, not dayglo!
Cheers
It'll depend on fit to a large degree. I like the fit of Specialized shoes so would suggest The Elite or the Comp models. However, my wife fits Fizik and they are bloody lovely shoes, you can pick up a pair of R3's for a snip under a ton at Merlin, sadly they don't fit me at all.
I've always been a fan of shimano. I've got the RP5 (I think). They were on offer in Evans so well under £100 when I got them. The next model up has a nicer carbon sole, heat moulding fabric but weighs more. The RP5s have been good for a cycling holiday, road racing and timetrials, a 700km monster ride. They've even shrugged off a 30mph crash without showing too much damage - being plain black it was easy to cover up the scuffs.
