In the market for a HD or normal def sports camera that can be mounted in various positions and that doesn't cost a small fortune.

It's about a time you joined a GoPro HD army.

After you read enough of stories and feedback about different HD Cameras, you will come to either Contour HD or GoPro HD. Therefore to cut the stories short and biased feedback from STW wisdom read/watchVholdr vs GoPro test.

There are some Vholdr Contour HD on e-bay at good prices, but getting hold of GoPro HD second hand is difficult.

Which tells its own story really!

If you do go Gopro- and I reckon you should but I'm possibly biased- then go to the states, even if you get caught for duties etc you can still save a packet.

You can pick the same up at dealextreme for a fraction of the cost. May have to wait 2-3weeks for delivery though.

I brought my P7 light from them, very impressed!

Been looking at the hero and have noticed it comes with a case so I gather that they are not that weather proof, so are the dealex ones better sealed then?

The Hero is designed only to be used inside the sealed case, which is fully waterproof and can be used for diving. All the mountings etc are on the case, plus it protects the lens. There's a seperate back provided if you want better sound but it does leave them only weather resistant, not weatherproof. Most people will just use the sealed case though. I doubt anybody uses the camera without the case.

Ehh, you get what you pay for.

It's either some bucks for quality stuff, or crumbles for god knows what. Don't complain after that.

You may be lucky with VehoMuvi though, but then who knows your needs?

I would thoroughly recommend the Go Pro HD. Have used one for about 6 months now and it's much more versatile than most use it for. The main drawback is the lack of a viewfinder, although you soon get the knack of what's in shot and what's without. Here's a few of my vids. Not your usual mtb stuff but they will give you an idea of the quality. Best viewed in higher resolutions.

Nah, not really. People say it is but it's about the same as the Contour, smaller than an ATC2K. It just looks blocky but that's what makes it so easy to mount up.

Nope, you only get 2 and a half hours. Though the batteries are replacable and not too expensive so I bought a spare. What you'll probably find though is that you won't want to have it rolling all the time, you'll not want to record a fireroad climb or you and your mates sitting around eating haribos.
