[#6234781]

I like removing my chain to clean it, I have been using SRAM soft links on my 9 speed for ages with no issues, but for 10 speed!
SRAM - not designed to be undone
Clarkes - designed to come undone, but won't

What works properly?

SRAM links come apart easily with a pair of these (or similar).. haven't had any issues with reusing them either..

"IMPORTANT: The 7,8,and 9 speed links have 2 sides and 1 spacer. 10sp & 11sp Links are POWERLOCK, they fit together but then are not designed to come apart again."
Above from the CRC product page - I assumed this was why I could not get them apart. The 9 speed ones are fine

KCMC works fine in 10sp.

Powerlocks are fine as above you just need the tool.
Even KMC links are stiff enough to warrant the tool, i've got them off without but it's a pain.

+1 KMC 10 speed, although I do admit to having bought one of the tools for home use ๐Ÿ™‚

trail_rat - do the 9 speed ones fit, I thought the 10 speed chain was narrower!

Connex links come apart easy every time and do not need any tools due to their unique interlocking design. I've been using them for years on 8, 9 and 10 speed chains.

KMC for links.

Superstar have reasonably priced link pliers.

I use 9 speed links on a 10 speed chain, no problems

KMC I can usually do with my hands, but not always. But tbf why is that a problem? Means it's more secure, and I never want to take the chain off except for cleaning or spannering so I've got the tool to hand anyway
