[#2536711]

I dont normally wear a helmet when out on my road bike as I like the wind in my hair. But I want a road helmet: Nothing too fancy, something with a low profile and a good fit (I have a bell mtb helmet which is a "uni size" http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=47099)

whats a goddun?

Why do you need a different helmet for use on the road?
This is a genuine question as I've never seen the need for different helmets for road and off road use

I got a road helmet for Christmas 'cos when I ride on the road none of the roadies say hello when I am on my Jake the Snake with a Xen 'cos I must look like a mtb'er.

so I got one of these :

Lovely helmet though and not having a peak is good on the road !

I dont, one helmet does it all.

But I class myself as a road rider rather than a mtber so it seems daft having a mtb helmet.

What Im planning is to buy a good road helmet. I'll then throw the mtb one away and just use my good road helmet for both types of cycling, at least it will satisfy certain forum members.

I treated myself to a Uvex FP1 from Rutland cycles and it's sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!! I don't even notice I have it on. It's crispy cool on the noggin and it doesn't look like a mushroom either ๐Ÿ˜€

Spesh S Works.

Comfiest I've ever used.

Oh, and I always wear one, came off in Jan and cracked my Giro in 2 places on the side!

Get yourself down to a bike shop with a good selection of helmets. Try all of them on!

Doesn't matter how many vents or how fancy the retention system is, if it's the wrong shape for your head it can be slow torture.

I like bell helmets as they are relatively cheap. I have a sweep. It has a removable peak if you want to put it back on riding off road. Nice and light, well vented, comfy.
