I'm going 1 x 9 (for now) on my 5-spot.
Recommend me a 32t chainring to go on my XTR chainset...
..middleburn?

for 1x9 I'd go with either renthal or e13. Both unramped, e13 is a little lighter.

or if not too bothered about the weight then Surly or On One stainless steel ones.

Renthal make a SPOT ON chainring for 40 notes.
Highly recommend! (Super stiff, and super lightweight) and being made by Renthal, you know it'll last. I'd go Renthal over e13 as its stronger.
I used one for my DH bike for a year, and it's still straight.
