[#5833158]

Going 1x9 on my Nomad and want a iscg 05 chain guide for it.

Looked at MRP G3 and E13 LG1 but a lot of the reviews mention parts cracking while just riding along.
Is there one out there that wont fall to bits on me?
Thanks

Can't fault my old style gamut p20. It has the lower roller. The newer one has a static lower roller, can't see much to go wrog with it. Never liked the look of e13s. Too much going on

Both LG1 and NRP suffer from solvent-based lubes weakening the plastic - stick to solvent-free lubes and you'll have no hassles, they recommend lubes on their sites.

Own both, plastic parts of the LG1 are probably more solid.

Straitline Silent Guide - No moving parts and nice solid machined bash guard.

Not cheap mind but you can pick up a second hand one for under 50 notes.

Mine has been faultless once I got the initial setup sorted and was happy to pay a bit more for something that will last, work and be maintenance free.

there must be some good deals on s/hand chain guides now that narrow/wide rings have basically destroyed the market for them, on single ring setups at least.

Bear in mind, due to the stupid lower VPP link on the Nomad, most chain guides won't actually fit properly, as they foul the pivot/chainstay.

The only one I could find that fitted mine was the Straitline Silentguide.

Save money on a chainguide and put it towards a 1x10 setup with clutch mech and thick/thin chainring.

Can I mount a chainguide to my bike?
Yes, this bike has been designed with ISCG-05 chainguide mounting tabs. We have had great luck with the E13 LG1 Tr, MRP Lopes guide or Mini G3. For dual ring guides, try the E13 TRS+Dual or MRP 2x guides. These should fit with minimal or no modification.

From Santa Cruz FAQ - this is for the current Alu frame so just check.
