[#1970590]

....for my DB Alpine.

running a two ring set-up up front (22/36 SLX double) and have experienced a bit of chain throw (is that a term? roughly translated from german...) on rough bits of trail or by tricksen (german for doing tricks).

don't want a mega heavy DH thingy, just something to keep the chain in check.

pics would be useful.

thanks.

J

BBG bashguard, light and cheap and will do exactly what you want.

a chainguard? for a derailleur geared set up? don't think I've ever seen such a thing on an adult MTB that is ridden off road.

fanks coogan.... yeah, i probably mean chain GUIDE and that DRS thing looks like the sort of thing i want/need.

shame CRC doesn't have it in clear for 36t set up.

any other options?

Blackspire stinger, or something from superstar

Or even better, go for a 1x9 set up

I'm very happy with the Stinger. I've been trying it out for a couple of months now on the same slx double and bash as you. (on a Meta 5.5 in XL)
It's sorted the problem I was previously having of me dropping the chain as soon as things turned fast and rocky.

I haven't noticed any additional resistance in the drivetrain, so I'm happy to stick with it.

Stinger + bashring is a decent cheap and cheerful set up. Roller is a bit cack though (only one bearing), and the backplate bends a bit easily if you are in the habit of ****ting it on things.

DRS is better made and works very well(but £££ compared to a stinger)- there's a cheap version available with a steel back plate too.

Gamut do one too.
