I can imagine this thread will go down well!!

What's the best BSO you've seen under £200?

My 65+ uncle wants something for canal towpaths and local sustrans routes. He's sent me a few links to some absolute garbage and I'm sure there's better out there.

So - what've you seen that looks half decent?

Thanks ianv - some of the BTWINs look quite good - but none are in stock.

Anymore suggestions?

Got to say the Btwin looks a lot better than that 37lb hardtail from Halfords! You want to be looking at fully rigid don't you, surely any suspension unit is just dead weight at that price point?

I should think that a saved ebay serach with those terms would bring up some beauties, espicially at this time of year, no-body will be buying. That coupled with a chap who knows what he's looking at/for and can service/repair.

Suitable for the older gent.

I've no experience with the above bike but EB always had good value/spec'd bikes.

My suggestion would be to find your local bike recycling charity thing and pick up a refurbed probably-quite-good-in-its-day bike for £200.

but none are in stock.

I would be surprised if Decathlon had no stock of its mid range bikes, maybe contact the local store to ask about availability.
