As per post title, recommendations for 32t singlespeed chainring + chain.

BCD is 104mm so 4bolt to fit a raceface crank

i've looked at the blackspire ones on CRC, Velosolo ones and cheap shimano middle rings on CRC

so just after peoples thoughts or experiences as i'm a no-ob to s / s

The Velosolo ones seem pretty good. My wife has been using one on her single speed since the summer and it seems to be wearing well. I don't think you can go wrong with it really. It is being used in conjunction with a singlespeed chain from them too, although I can't remember which chain it is?

Got a second hand 32T E13 one you can have for £15 posted, black - 4 bolt 104 BCD - lots of life left and light as funk.

Email in profile if interested.

Middleburn chainring and a KMC Z610HX chain. There's no better combination...

I've been running a Salsa ring for about 4 winters now. Never let me down.

For the chain, I swear by SRAM PC-1s - got one on my 1x1 and on the Roadrat and seem to be pretty indestructible even in heavy mud.

I can highly recommend:

Surly 32t Chainring 104bcd (steel so avoids the rapid wear of aluminium)

KMC 3/32 Single Speed Chain

Both purchased from Charliethebikemonger along with Surly Single Speed Cog (steel again).

Second the on one stainless but I have found Pc 1 chains to be knicker elastic. At the mo I am using a KMC anti rust jobber from CRC. Cheap and so far non stretchy.

Surly Stainless has been on my SS for 3+ years now, still going strong.

Just put together my old P2 jump bike as a fixed for pub duties and commuting if/when the roads are bad.

Used one of the Velo Solo ones with a Wippermann White Star 108 SS chain, too early to tell how it'll last but the chain looks plenty strong. Gold VS ring looks nice too 8)

e2a: not had great experiences either with Sram PC1 chains, got through 2 in the last year.

I've had good results from Surly and On-One stainless steel and also the Middleburn Uno with hardcoat.

I always go for SJS cycles own branded ones. Last well and relatively cheap.

Chain is not v. critical IME. Anything around the £10 has been fine. Unfortunately on my latest build even with a tensioner I was having trouble getting it right so had to go for a gusset half link.

The fatter BMX chains are no better than the standard narrower ones either.

Goldtec 1/8th ring (£20 + P&P) and KMC S10 stainless steel 1/8th chain (£10 delivered from Planet X). Then leave it wet and muddy after a ride 🙂
