Hi.

I'm after a vacuum flask for hot drinks. This is actually a gift rather than something small and light just for riding with.

I'd like about a 1 litre capacity, can keep hot drinks properly hot 8hrs, not too heavy but durable (my last one smashed when I dropped it ๐Ÿ™ ). Must include at least one mug for drinking from.

I've seen some ok looking ones from Promus and Stanley, any opinions of these?

The Thermos stainless steel ones are good - I have a small one and it's very durable and does exactly what you'd expect.

Not a litre am afraid, not half that, but needs a mention - I bought a flip-top one from Morrisons, it has been astonishingly reliable and just about perfect for 6 months now. Ingenious as only need one hand to open, close, drink etc. If they do this in a bigger size I would be looking at that, but this size keeps me happy enough.

Review (not mine) here http://airdrierambler.wordpress.com/reviews/gear-reviews/on-the-go-flask/

I love my Stanley Classic (which I got as a gift). Nicely made, handled lots of abuse and stays hot for a lot longer than 8 hours.

Kleen Kanteen stuff is great for carrying hot drinks.

I know you said that it wasn't for biking, but their 12oz bottle fits in a King Cage on the bike.

Edit - The above link is to their US site, but they're easy to pick up in UK.

I've got a Thermos Ultimate flask. Pre-warmed with hot water before I put liquid in, it keeps drinks hot for ages....

I've just ordered a Thermos 'King'. Bit bigger than the ultimate, but not as bulky as a Classic. Thanks for your feedback.
