I was into the Sopranos, got box set 1 on DVD and watched it in a weekend, repeat with series 2 the following week, at the time series 3 was on TV so was a few episodes behind. Also storylines that would sometimes go way back, then someone is killed off in relation to that.

Otherwise Downton Abbey?

AS ever I will recommend Oz. It's a little patchy and went right off the rails at a couple of points especially in later series, but when it's good, it's incredibly good.

And STW favourite Band of Brothers.

And, it's a bit of an investment of time but the West Wing. it's almost never bad, and even the slower or less interesting episodes are always setting up the ridiculously good highlights. Love it.

Another +1 for Justified. I love a show where the 'good' characters are far from perfect, and the 'bad' guys are easy to sympathise with, even root for...

And a fantastic little theme tune to boot. Can't even bring myself to fast forward through it, even after all those episodes. Only The Wire had a comparably catchy hook...

I quite enjoyed Banshee...it was a bit silly but enjoyable.

Also

Dexter
Ray (just started and has been pretty good so far)
Sons of Anarchy (again)
Newsroom
Falling Skies (took a while to get into but it has bought out the inner geek in me)
Spartacus is ace...silly, gory and lots if nudity. Thoroughly good fun though.
Braqo is really good too. I really got into this.
The series about the Aussie mob was great but I can't remember the name if it now. It was on FX a year or two ago.

Sky Atlantic seem to have quite a lot of good shows these days as does Fox.

Another vote for Californication. Brilliant addictive stuff.

Snappy script, funny, fast paced and you will REALLY want to be Hank Moody.

Top of the Lake

...its on BBC at the moment, so you can catch it on Iplayer. There is only six episodes, so its not a series as such, but its well worth a watch IMO.

Just finished watching Hanninbal on Sky, was pretty good, if not a bit dark and pretty disturbing in parts. Mads Mikkelsen is an awesome Dr lecter IMO, I never really found Antony Hopkins scary, but Mads nails it.

Out on September 2nd
