OK so im really getting back into riding the old hardtail (DAWES Watoga - weyhey!! cant afford a new bike so want to put it on a diet. recomend a light weight crankset & square taper BB that wont break the bank.

Again SLX - bargain. My last few bikes have all ran XTR, either M960 or the last 2 M970 and pound for pound you just cannot fault SLX. Yes it's heavier, yes it's not as stiff as XTR but for the price difference you just cannot go wrong.

some people miss that? 😆

dunno how to do it other than search for some older XT or XTR ones, middleburn will be too pricey probably... light sq taper BBs aren't cheap either - think parker international might have some UN73s left in the odd size - otherwise ebay.

tbh i just got some £50 deore HT2 types from crc, as i can't afford another set of middleburns at the mo.

No didn't miss it, just think for the money forget the old system and get SLX 😀

go on ebay for some xt's thier appear to be alot of them atm
