Whinlatter is worth a visit imo. Good swoopy, jumpy fun. I spose Kielder or some of the Stanes are not that far either.

Whinlatter is going to be my next choice on my Venture to the lakes in April,

The North face at Grizedale was good fun in the -7 ice in December, Havent rid it in the warmer times but the views were bloody fantastic so worth a visit IMO

Don't think the rally will close the Altura trail, but phone the Cyclewise shop on site to check - 017687 78711

There's hods of descent biking up here in Keswick... mostly better than Whinlatter, take a look at Ullock Pike, Scope End off Hindscarth or even just Walla Crag ๐Ÿ˜‰

There is a fantastic trail centre called "The Lake District". Buy a map inyour way to Carlisle. If you are compelled to ride a trail centre then do the Whinlatter one and include it in a loop of Grizedale pike.

Depends what you're into and what mood you are in though doesn't it. I do mostly 'natural' riding in the Lakes and generally prefer it, but I had a great time at Whinlatter on Sunday. It is a good contrast to the natural riding with loads of jumps/berms etc.

From FC Whinlatter

"PLEASE NOTE : Saturday 7th March is the annual Malcolm Wilson Car rally and the whole Altura Trail will be closed for safety reasons."

as bardster says..lok in to Keswickmountainbikes and pick up a map for a couple of quid. Borrowdale Bash is a good all weather ride.

For a trail centre you are only 3/4hr away from Mabie and Ae. 1hr from Dalbeattie.
