My Reba SLs (08 I think) lose travel and become "dead" during the course of a ride, especially one with a few small drops/jumps. I can sort it out by resetting the forks (usually 95 +ve, 90 -ve) I'm assuming based on other posts that the positive and negative chambers are equalising (they were both about 90 psi after last ride give or take). I've done an o-ring service (twice!), including adding recommended oil to positive chamber, changed the positive valve core, all to no avail. What am I missing?

You may have a small scratch on the inside of the fork leg that is allowing air to pass from one chamber to the other .

Thanks - I had a good look for scratches but couldn't see one. Even if air moves between the chambers (and equalises) I'm still not sure why that results in an dead unresponsive fork - after all Rockshox suggests equal positive and negative as a starting point.

They should be equal (or around that) when the fork is at full extension, but as it compresses the +ive chamber goes up in presure and the -ive down.
So, if while compressed, air can move from the +ive to -ive (due to a leak), they then won't fully extend again.

It does sound like you have scratched inner stanchions if air is migrating after changing the seals.

Sounding like I'd better have another look the inner stanchion - I guess if scratched then fork's had it...can't justify new uppers.

i made a pretty good job of repairing the scratches on my fork.

not sure you'd be able to do it internally though.
