my black box motion control reba doesn't lock out. I got it unused but secondhand from the classifieds here(so no warranty i guess) and rode it for ages and had the lowers off for travel change before i bothered fitting a poploc and finding it doesn't, errr, 'loc'.

I have checked the damper oil and topped it up to correct volume as per sram service guide, and a crude 'shut the lockout and blow in the bottom' test of the compression damper says the compression/lockout bit seems to work. All the seals look peachy and the rebound works fine. What have i missed?

I've only got older Motion Control Rebas, so I'm guessing, but is there a floodgate setting? Motion Control Rebas don't exactly lock out, I think it just ramps up the compression damping. The Floodgate setting provides a 'blow off' threshold which, if exceeded, allows the forks to compress. If this is set at minimum, or very low, it could be causing your symptoms.

On my Rebas the Floodgate has an external adjuster on top of the compression damping knob, but it may an allen key job under a cap on the compression damping knob (if Black Box has Floodgate).

good point PJay, but nope, feels the same (ie fully 'open') with compression and floodgate fully on or fully off. Actually i wonder if the floodgate is just stuck on/open and over-rides whatever i do with the compression/lockout. Anyone come across that?

I had a similar problem, i was pushing the poplok and it was staying down but it wasnt locking out, so i pushed the black part(of the poplok thing) a bit further back, away from you when sat on the bike, and then it worked, i think it pulled a mm or so more cable, which activates the lockout.
Hope this helps
