I picked up an absolutely lovely early eighties Carlton Pro-am at the tip, basically mint, basically unused, for a whole twenty pounds. It rides lovely, but it is a bit worrying riding on forty year old tyres...

It will only ever be used for sunny pootles to a pub, so I don't really want to spend too much on it (I've already doubled it's value buying a longer seatpost…). However, it would be good to keep the retro look, so anyone know where I can pick up some 700x23 (the ones on there say they're 25s, but they're blimmin' little for 25s) tan wall tyres for very little cash?

Our school bus used to go past the Carlton factory - late 60s, early 70s.

Panaracer/Rivendell Jack Brown 33c

Blue for puncture protection.
Green for lightness/suppleness.

£17 from On One when I bought mine. So they could be anywhere between £4.99 and £70 today.
