Hi - done a bit of googling but not thrown much up - probably a reason..
Anyway, has anyone got any genius ideas of how i can store my MTB with the rear wheel off..
Context - I have it set up on a direct drive trainer, no issues with space mostly, however when im not planning on using it for a day or 2, id like to remove from the trainer and store to the side to make access to the kids bikes and other bits in my "man shed" essentially Wife friendly - was trying to make life a little easier by not bothering replacing the rear wheel if i dont intend to go out actual riding before the next turbo session!
So, any bright ideas simply of upright bike storage, rear wheel off 🙂
Oh and not a bike repair stand, legs take up too much space - tried it 🙂
Cheers
Shimano chain set? Wouldn't an Andy Stand or similar work?
On the ground on bars and saddle. Or shimano do a through crank stand for about £20.
“PRO bottom bracket stand”
Are you planning on Putting the Turbo away? Otherwise couldn’t you just stand the bike up straight (so the front wheel / frame are over the Turbo)
Could you not swivel it upright whilst still attached to the trainer?
I’ve got a little Topeak stand that hooks under the bottom bracket and down tube that then lifts the wheel off the ground.
Also when Lidl/ or Aldi does bike stuff, I got a couple of stands that support the bike by the chain and seat stays.
Hang it by the saddle from a hook in the ceiling/exposed rafter?
2x4 with a 10mm rod through it. Bolted to the wall or with a piece at the bottom.
Scorpion from Feedback Sports might do the trick

There's a cheap one that Decathlon do, holds the bike with 2 hooks under the chain and seat stays. Perfect for your needs, and indexing gears, etc.

The Spartan OdPod will keep the bicycle upright with either wheel removed and you can rotate the pedals too for any bike maintenance - received one a few days ago:

That's what I do too
I made one using am old QR rear hub mounted on top of a piece of 2 X 3 mounted in turn on a flat piece of wood for stability. The 2 x 3 has to be long enough so rear mech and chain set clear the ground - not a problem if the front wheel stays on.
It was built so I could carry my bike lengthways in a campervan with both wheels off. The forks clamp to a mount on the floor
Cheers Guys - some good suggestions here, quite like the OdPod solution so far - 20 quid seems a deal aswell.
Couple of rubber coated hooks from screw fix and hang it from the ceiling by the bars and saddle?
When I used to store my full-sus with both wheels off, I knocked this up out of some ply offcuts in half an hour. The chainstays slot in, there's a slot to keep the chain tidy (which I initially put on the wrong side!), and bungee to keep it on so you can pick the bike up and move it around without holding the stand (really useful).
Cupboard door handle. As suggested the 10mm bar type. Fits right on to the dropouts, though you'd need to devise a holding system to hold it in securely.

Looks a handy easy to make wee jig. Could do with a coat of paint or some stickers though.
Stcikers always make it look better 😀 and lets everyone know its some weird bike thing.
You can get some sticky backed lengths of neoprene, to line the cut out sections. Maybe not really a problem with scratching, but it will do some protection and it looks better again.
Especially with that new shiny coat of pain im now sure youre going to put on.
Ive got this underneath the control wires and brake line across my top tube that use to annoy the hell out of me rattling against the hollow box section top. Strip of this and silence.

Whatever I do to it, it's going to get covered in mud and putoline pretty quickly so I leave it with the "rustic" finish 😀
If only I could get that neoprene strip inside my downtube to stop the internal cables rattling!
