[#5558515]

I've decided its time to upgrade the Fox Float RP2 that came with my 2009 Anthem X2.
I have 2012 Rock Sid RCT3's on the front, so logic would say maybe the new 2014 Rock Shox Monarch RT3 would be the way to go?

The Fox CTD seems like a good shox, but the price is a lot steeper.

Any Comments guys/girls?

Also just to confirm, Anthem X uses a 165mm 38mm shock with mid rebound/compression?

I've upgraded from an RP23 and a Fox Triad to a 2013 CTD on my two FS bikes (which are 2009 and 2011 models respectively) and am pretty pleased with the results, in the case of the Triad equipped bike, the CTD replaced a brand new shock that encountered a warranty issue and the difference in suspension performance is profound.

I've never ridden an Antem though so I cannot give you any specific advice regarding your frame.

I'd get a service and Push tune at TF Tuned.

That should make it as good or better than any aftermarket XC shock for about £150.

It's what I'm doing on my own bike in fact, and have done on a Giamnt trance to great effect before. Basically it gave better support higher in the shock stroke an a feeling of control all the way through the stroke. Lots more grip too.

I just spoke to tf tuned..they advised me to get my RP2 serviced and pushed, rather than buying a new shock.
They say it would out perform a off the shelf ctd, anyone disagree with that?

Nope, sounds ideal. RP2 is a pretty good shock out of the box.

What's actually wrong with your RP2 that you want to improve? I would think TF tuned will sort you out if you can tell them what you want.

FYI - I have the RP2 on my X1 and I think it comfortably outperforms the F120 RLC I have on the front.

Being 96kg I have 250psi in the shock.. it's uses up that travel quiet easily..
Switching the pro pedal on doesn't make a great difference.

Speaking to the guy from tf tuned, it seems the damping needs a service..

Sounds like it. The pro-pedal is very noticeable on mine. I had it serviced and new bearings fitted recently - it was like a new bike afterwards.

Does the kashima upgrade make any noticeable difference in performance? Or is it more bling than function?
