10 speed shimano rear mechs shadow plus? what is the difference between long and med cage and does it matter which one I buy for 1x10 use?
I went 1x10 and got a medium cage shadow plus xt. I' think long cage is a bit too long.
I went 1x10 and got a zee. It's a short cage, but I doubt medium cage will be any problem.
Rear mech's what?
I run Sram stuff but am using a medium cage mech on my 1x10 set up with an 11-36 tooth cassette.
I will be changing to a type 2 clutch mech soon and will drop down to a short cage.
On a 1x10 you should be able to run short, medium or long (assuming 32t front ring). The only real difference will be the length of the cage. Merlin are doing the long SLX cheaply, Tweeks seem pretty cheap for the medium XT's and Zee.
I did a thread recently and a few Zee rear mechs seem to have had problems so i'm going for a medium XT on my 1x10 bike soon. I run medium 2x10 SLX clutch on another bike and it's been fine.
