Just changed long cage (LC) Sram mech for LC XT shadow but the cage is prob 2cm lower so a bit more chance of hitting rocks! so i am wondering if the med cage shadow would work ok? running 44/32

I use a short cage with 44 triple on the front and a 34 on the rear.

44 to 34 rear would require a long cage rear mech wouldn't it?

I would expect a 32 rear would use a medium cage rear mech.

What does the Shimano website say about the matter? I'm sure they have comptibility charts in their documentation (they certainly do for road bike components)

I run a med X0 with 44 to 34... but I make sure I never go more than halfway up the cluster when in the big ring at the front... and I never go more than halfway down the cluster when in granny ring...

Nahh. Medium SRAM handles it just fine.
