Girlfriend's rear mech has started misbehaving and I can't work out what could be wrong - issue is going up the cassette needs one click 'plus a bit'.
I've adjusted the cable so it changes properly and it works, for a short while, then goes back again.
I've replaced the cable and outer, worked for a short while, then goes back again.
I'm pretty sure that if I turn a quarter turn or so tonight it will be fine again tomorrow, for a bit, then lose indexing again.
Mech hanger looks straight, chain not stretched.
Road bike, Tiagra groupset, circa 2014 I think. Only thing I can think of is the cable routing/grit in cable?
I'm stumped, any ideas?
Cable outer not properly inserted into shifter body is my uneducated guess.
Have you refitted the ferrules on the outer casing? Are they fully in?
Have you tried another rear mech to see if it works?
If ok, then it's the old mech.
If not ok then it's the cables as above posts.
Treat her to some new inners, outers, ferrules and a squirt of lube.
