Does anyone know if a 9 speed shadow shimano rear mech. will work with 9 speed STI road shifters please ? Thanks.

yes, perfectly. You can also use road 10spd shifters and cassette with your 9spd MTB mech.

I'll give it a go then, the post man has literally just delivered a new 11-34 cassette and chain.
