[#5348965]

Hi all
I'm going 1 x 10 when Silverfish get the RaceFace 30T N/W chainrings in (later this month hopefully) and was wondering if it's possible to change the cage on the XT S+ rear mech?
Currently running a SGS with an 11/34 cassette and was hoping I could change to a GS.
Has anyone done it?

Yes, it is possible. A new cage is £18. Part numbers are 5XC 0910 for the inner plate and Y5Y198080 for the outer plate.

@Mister P: Great news, thanks. Would I need to order the parts through my LBS (from Madison?) or is there an online resource I can order direct from?

LBS is your best bet although places like St John Street are pretty good for mail order spare parts.

Just out of interest, do you know if the SLX cages will fit? The Inner is the same part number...

I know that Saint and Zee are interchangeable as are Saint and XTR so I wouldn't be surprised if an SLX fitted an XT.

Hijack. Sorry. Would this mean I could change my long cafe to a short 1 on my slx+. Now I've changed to 1x10

Don't think they do a short cage for the SLX. You might have to go GS like I'm trying to do..

Long cage is SGS
Medium cage is GS
I'm sure they stand for something but don't know what..

You could fit an SS short cage from a Zee onto your SLX. Part numbers for that are 5V5 0840 inner plate and 5Y5 9803 outer plate.

Another hijack... I've just had a xtr rear mech fitted with the new direct mount link, shifting is so so quick and snappy.
