Don't judge me.

How do you remove XTR cranks? The new style. Is it the same as XT? Just pull?

Thanks

No, you need the tool that came with the cranks TL-FC35, use the four 'pins' on the back to unscrew the plastic ring (LH thread), screw the tool into the crank in place of the ring, then undo the bolt with an 8mm allen key.

If there m970 no, you unscrew the bolt on the non driveside with the extractor tool attached. It will be very tight.

edit: too slow

Thanks guys.

This is the most baffling thing I've done all day.

Weird. What's wrong with the plastic tensioner and couple of bolts that they use of all the other cranksets?

It's lighter, allegedly, although they don't use it on any of the other systems!
