Make one up cheap as you can
If you like - build better
If you don't - no great shakes
I've been SS for about 6 years - selective rides
Horses for courses..................
Just do it - no point asking...... be your own man/boy/girl/woman (delete as needed)
I take it the stoker is a girlie then? Does she not even have a "lady beard" you know get em to do a handstand and see if a goatee suits you? ๐
Explosion in a spaghetti factory - soory, the beer is taking over the typing ...... i'll get me coat.
No worries tazzy.
It made her laugh anyway. ๐
Is it narrow minded social club night again already?
OMFG! ๐ณ remind me NOT to drink at the SSEC10!! I'll now be the one cunningly disguised as sir digby chicken ceaser. I should blend right in with all the other SS riders.
Maybe the OP should come to http://www.ssec10.blogspot.com/
And some of the [s]attentionwhores[/s] nice singlespeed folk will let you have a go on their one geared cycles.
It makes men out of boys [s]allegedly[/s]
singlespeeding- you hear strange things about it. Those that have singlespeeds seem strangley different. The first time singlespeed happens to you it feels so wrong, worrying and yet inevitable and apparently it makes men out of boys.
It's basically puberty with one gear.
KINGTUT - Membersorry for the repeat of a post last week
In that case perhaps use the search function before you repeat and age old and quite frankly dull troll.
I think Mr Kingtut you will find that practically all topics have been discussed before however not everyone with a user name skulks round on here waiting to poo poo any debate, mostly it's you.
Are you related to any of these two perchance?
NO point in it I don't like it. Too hard up hill (granted if I was fitter it would be easier) and too spinny DH. It limits the fun I had on that bike its gears for me in the future.
Do singlespeeders frequent less hilly areas? Most of the rides round here involve a minimum of 1,000ft climb, often requiring the granny ring for my old and feeble legs. I just don't get the attraction of not being able to ride up stuff that gears make doable.
You do all realise that there is NO SUCH THING as a Singlespeed MTB. When MTBs were invented they took a single-geared beach cruiser, put gears on it and rode it into the mountains. Therefore there can be no point... ๐
[peepsfrombehindhands]..... Mummy, has the nasty troll gone away yet?[/peepsfrombehindhands]
I was thinking of getting an 8" travel full susser and some body armour to get rad at the trail centres but I coan't really see the point. Can someone convince me? ๐
*rolls out fully rigid SS 29er*
Attention whores, assemble!!!
<<iv been thinking about going single speed and cant see any benifits>>
well if you can't see the benefits then why bother - spend more time riding

In this country we were riding in the mountains on single speed, often fixed bikes, long before the Americans invented the idea.
So it's really a case that gears (and suspension) haven't caught on with some of us yet ๐
If you're interested look at the Rough Stuff Fellowship history.

fashion?HAVE YOU SEEN A SINGLE SPEED RIDER??
they normally look like geography teachers or the bloke from jethro tull, I'm sure the rigid forks will double up as a flute.
I've taken my time searching through my kit box and seem have lost my singlespeeding codpiece. Have I left it in the pub, I wonder?
What's ss????

I wouldn't even get out of bed for that sort of ride. All singlespeeders are riding gods, you're not allowed to ride SS until you're pure and strong enough to do it properly. And most people can't. There's a secret club and everything, but obviously normal people are oblivious to the fact, being a bit thick and all. Riding SS makes you smarter, stronger, sexier and above all else, better. There are bosses of huge corporations that are singlespeeders and they still let on to singlespeeders who are a bit shit, not that any are, all of us are hugely succesful, it comes with the turf. I have a million pounds in the bank but I come here to poke fun at people with gears, the stupid ****ers.
Dream on weak kneed, geared fuzzballs, you'll never be the men that we are so just kill yourselves. Sorry, got to go, two girls from the John Lewis perfume counter have just called by asking if they can give me head.
tazzymtb- you're not wrong. I love Tull and have a beard and long hair.

So unless you too are over 45, DON'T singlespeed!!!!
1000 ft of climb? Barely a warm up! Mind you there were quite a few folk on SS at teh 'puffer and many of them did better than me with my granny gears!
I guess tho that most SS riders don't go into the hills much. You certainly don't see SS riders very much in my local hills -and they are hills not mountains. Still a couple of thousand feet in a decent ride tho
Get a Rohloff.
It's like a singlespeed with gears.
Get a Rohloff.
It's like a singlespeed with gears.
So, not like a singlespeed at all then.
