What's the best way for me to straighten out the nut in a set of forks as one of mine seems to have slipped a little. My thought is to put in a bolt and tap it with a hammer a bit to get it all realigned but my experience is that my ham-fisted clumsy way of doing things isn't always right.
Put a bolt in it to stop you mangling the threads and then **** it, sorry, tap it with a hammer and a drift...
Sorted...
yep - slow and steady does it
how not to do it.......screw on ParkTools nut setter tool part way, hit sideways with hammer, shear off tool, buy a new one......
One of those silly things you only do once..-)
I tapped mine sideways to straighten it, but it bent one of the claws, which I didn't spot, because it was on the bottom set.
Half way round the beast at CyB I thought I should remove a teeny bit of play from the headset that had crept in. All that happened is the SFN pulled up the steerer and I had to put up with a whole lot of play the rest of the way round.
