MSMondraker tweeted an hour ago and questioned if it would go ahead, no comments so far though.

Well it gives Rachel more time to heal up, so there is a plus point for some riders.

Wonder how much it would change the race from a riders perspective if they ran it without spectators? Would be eerily quiet I guess!
Postponed would be good if schedules allow. Was looking forward to the World Cup being back on

It's not just a question of riders though, it's crews, organisers, catering, etc... They can't just turn up and ride down the hill then go home.

I think people are forgetting the potential severity of the situation.

If just 1-2 of them contract the virus, then go to anohter country, then another... Why add to this issue purely for a bit of light entertainment ? Just because they're likely to survive any virus issues due to being fit and healthy, doesn't mean anyone and everyone they indirectly affect will survive.

More likely rescheduled (providing too much else doesn't get postponed) reading the UCI press release:

Due to the current pneumonia epidemic (Covid-19) linked to the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which has also affected Portugal in recent days, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) must announce that the opening round of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup which was to take place at Louzanpark in Lousã on 21 and 22 March will not take place on the scheduled dates.

The UCI fully supports the decision taken by the Lousã local authorities and the Montanha Clube to reschedule the event based on the instructions made on 10 March by the Portuguese public health authorities. In light of the current situation, the running of the event would have potentially presented a health risk to riders, to everyone involved in the event and to fans, and could have contributed to the spread of Covid-19.

The new date of the event will be announced by the UCI after consultation with the organising committee and the country’s health authorities, taking into account the overall calendar of the series and depending on the evolution of the spread of the coronavirus worldwide and in Portugal.

The UCI would like to thank the city of Lousã and the Montanha Clube for their cooperation in this difficult situation, as well as the riders, teams and all parties involved for their understanding.

Cyclingworld in Dusseldorf has been cancelled. It should have been on 21st & 22nd March. I'm waiting to see what happens with Ronde van Vlaanderen which should be 4th & 5th Of April. That's 16,000 people taking part in the public ride on the Saturday before you consider the crowds on the Sunday for the pro race.

That makes sense if they expect half of Europe to self isolate for two weeks upon arrival in Colombia. We'll soon see if Olargues gets postponed. Occitanie BMX cup scheduled for 29/03 has been called off and I'm not sure that they get over 1000 people gathering (this week's cut off amount for events in France)
