No, let's not go down the typical Rapha thread route......

My question. Why is the reflective stripe down the back of the left leg? Surely the majority of purchasers are UK based? Or are they doing it to try and keep a continental air about them. Makes much more sense to have it on the right leg?

Because, as any fule kno, the right hand leg should be rolled up at a jaunty angle, a la sister's jeans look.

are you looking in a mirror with your back facing it, with your head between your legs?

That link says it's "contrast" stripe, not a reflective one.

because it wouldn't be on the same side as the jersey stripe if it was on the right leg.

Actually, I've just worked out the reason.

It's to go with the stripe on the left hand sleeve of the jersey.

Edit: damn you!

Oh, this "contrast" stripe? It's cycle specific.

Not reflective - just decorative?
"The left leg has a contrast stripe with a printed Rapha logo"

Always makes most sense to have reflectives on both legs as the up and down motion very clearly says cyclist in a way that a single reflective doesn't.

They do, of course, show their models riding on the right as well.

because it would show any chain/chainring contact grease/oil marks if it was on the RHS and that really wouldn't be Rapha.

Their HQ is in the UK but they have US offices and 70% of their market is outside the UK

It's probably because they like to copy classic continental cycling clobber.

I put all of my lights and reflectors on the left hand side. It helps compensate for the weight of the gears on the right.
