Just got in 118km clocked up, head wind most of the day, doable but not much fun, will not go as far tomorrow!

Got the first 40km out of the way with the commute today. Surprisingly warm down south, just hope it stays this way until the 31st!

Managed 100km accompanied by some truly wonderful headwinds and driving rain. Majorca looks much more appealing than central Scotland about now.

Cheated today- road ride to Brighton and back for 127km. Pretty bleak going over the south downs.

Have to get muddy for the rest of it.

Only 80km today.
It should have more but wind and more mechanicals in one ride than I’ve seen people have in month.
And worse my spare time to ride Boxing Day has now gone.
Oh well there’s next year

80km into the teeth of a 40kph wind. Return was 30mins quicker. 800m of climb helped strain the legs.

Knocked off 100km today, which I'm pleased about given that I felt terrible this morning. All day drizzle but warm so hopefully won't have manflu tomorrow. Might try for a couple of hours before everyone arrives tomorrow. The weather looks colder and icier later in the week so want to be able to skip a couple of days.

Manual entries and trainer rides will not count towards your challenge effort.

Hate to break it to you but Zwift / turbo rides don't count!

I'm out in Gran Canaria but something I failed to take into account is how ****ing hilly it is here, it's got to be one of the toughest places I've ever ridden. Sunny though which is a definite plus!

Did 80km today but it had 4000m of climbing in it. I'm going to have to find some flatter routes somewhere... Genuinely can't keep those stats going for the whole week.

Oops.....didn't realise. Thanks TR- I'm daddy day-care all of next week, so I think I can safely kiss the 500 goodbye in that case 🙁

Mate of mine is riding home to his parents, Littlehampton to Kings Lynn. He started out at 6am and has just stopped at a pub for a beer, he’s near Tring in Herts. He’s got a bike full of kit and plenty of lights and will be there by midnight or so..

I had the pleasure of what felt like perpetual headwind today. 95K and I was running on fumes towards the end. Then I got a puncture and my spare tube wouldn't stay inflated and I had to walk the last 1.5k.
Could have been worse I suppose.

After a boozy long late lunch yesterday. The thought of facing the rain this morning isn't filling me with get up and go.

Both my Garmin and Strava said so. The air pressure out here is pretty constant so the Garmin reads very accurately.

I rode with a friend on 22nd on similar roads and we did a 41 mile / 65km ride and both our GPS readings and Strava uploads were within a few metres of each other (3,600m!)

For Grand Canaria I can believe that. Though still cheating somewhat going somewhere nice to do it 🙂

110k knocked off last night on a dark local loop (at least it was dry and mild.) Though with today and tomorrow with no bike the 500 is looking unlikely.

Chapeau indeed then Crazy Legs. I can't remember getting 4km of road climbing in anything other than a 180km slog around the Pyrenees!

Well 32km managed, was meeting OH but a mechanical 3km into her ride meant we turned round just above freezing and wet. So I admitted defeat and climbed in to van for a lift home.

A nice muddy 15 miles to make up for the road time yesterday. Proper horse churned clag that- barely over the tyres and still sticky enough to hold the bike up. The hard pedalling down the hill afterwards was fun too.

Was hoping for 20+ but Christmas prep took longer than planned

I will stick with 500 metres of climbing earlier today, good luck to you mentalists attempting 500km in a week, my best week this year was ~175 miles and I was dead the week after.

just shy of 140km yesterday, now in Devon with the SO's mum for a few days, so not much chance of long rides until i get home Thursday night. hmm. never say never but this could be a minor issue.

The 06:00 alarm said go, body said no! So an easy 45km whilst the lamb roasted gently in the oven. Always nice to get home to food. Surprisingly busy roads, but not another soul out on a bike. Will set that alarm again tomorrow. Annoyed as an 06:30 sees 100km by breakfast time and the rest of the Tireds rising. Then away for a few days.

If anyone fancies a very early M25 ride, i'll be out Thursday or Friday.

A quick 45km today while my family were cooking. A few cars and horse riders about. Loving my new 35mm G-One tyres on the Grade. Planning a big day out tomorrow.

132km today on some mind-blowingly stunning roads through the middle of the island. Was like something out of a spaghetti western; huge rock formations, canyons and this ribbon of road snaking through it all. Only downside is that some of the road surface out here is really rather shit and the terrain is just HARD. They are slow roads - I was climbing for an hour at about 6mph / 10kph. And that was just one of the climbs. Thankfully the views made up for it.

Christmas Day isn't quite such a thing over here so there were still quite a few bars and cafes open and LOADS of cyclists out. One thing that really stands out is how considerate all the drivers are. They'll happily wait behind for a safe overtake, a little bip of the horn and they'll be scraping the armco on the opposite side of the road to give you enough space as they pass.

Was planning 120km today but snow knackers that unless I want to mix it with traffic on the A roads. My planned route will be white roads on the tops. Looks like it's 40km on the mtb and a hope for thaw and dry for tomorrow.

was climbing for an hour at about 6mph / 10kph

Even with a compact and a 28t sprocket that’s still 60 rpm grind for an hour. Would not enjoy that much!

Zero km yesterday, zero today. Finding the hours for 500 is going to be challenging 😉

Up at 06:05. Out by 06:20. Normal Sunday loop cut short by a puncture and need to be home. Nice to see the sun appear over Deepcut. 95 km by 9:30. Colder than yesterday though still dry, despite the torrential rain last night.
So two days off the bike, maybe three. 205km down, a 225km ride on Friday and a short E12 race on Saturday. Recovery or a 100km on Sunday. Still going to miss my annual target 🙁

another 40km done today, and discovered the SO wants to go to the cinema with her mum tomorrow.

100km of north devon lanes awaits, only downside is there are NO flat roads here!

This is not getting easier first a windy day and now all decent routes are a bit white. Might have to switch to a roadie to make the last half easier.

214km down. Proving a challenge this year by both the weather and family commitments. Sunday was 70km into a gale, then back again, Yesterday was pleasant but curtailed by xmas lunch, today was limited due to xmas hangover and waiting for the sleet to stop. A couple more 50-70km rides followed by a big one to finish will do it. Hoping to be done by Friday.

90km today, just a really steady pace. Managed to find some flatter roads, we did 2200m climbing today which is a big relief after the initial few days of 3000+ metres.

That takes me to a fraction over 300km in 3 days. I really knew about it this morning riding out on the first climb, took me 20 minutes to warm up!

However it is warm(ish) and sunny and dry and there's Spanish tapas so basically, it's all good. 🙂

Over halfway now - thanks to a wet and windy ride today. Got family duties tomorrow so hoping Thursday isn't icy. Not as many riders out today as I expected, though crossed paths with some local Elite team riders. Fair play to anyone doing the 500 on a mtb!

90km today takes me to about 215...a lot of black ice around though and to get colder tomorrow so prospects of doing the intended big ride tomorrow not great.

I'm doing it on a single speed. 112km on sub zero icy roads today had me feeling quite smug until I realised I have to it again tomorrow and the day after...

60 miles of mixed road, path and 'churned to unrideable by horses mud' today takes me to the halfway mark.

Quite a nice day down south this morning so I decided to repeat a route I did with a friend between Christmas and New year several years ago, at least as well as I could remember.

South from my usual area, through the fields, round east grinstead and dormansland then south to the forest way. This stretch was pretty appallingly churned up by horses and very slow going, which is a shame as the views were lovely. Afraid I didn't take pictures as I was busy muttering very rude things about equestrians churning up the ground. Then forest way out past groombridge, about face and over the hill to crowborough and on up to the top of the ashdown. A short shower here made me think the rain had come a few hours earlier than forecast but it died off. Quick visit to pooh bridge, dodged a family in assorted Winnie the Pooh character onesies and then back on the forest way heading west for East grinstead. Then just a slog through the lanes and byways home as the rain finally caught up with me.

only 80 today, which gets me just over the 250, snow, cold and wind on Exmoor wasn't the ideal combination for a longer ride.

Two days off and I'm back on the bike today, though wont find the time until it's dark and sub zero outside, and I've picked up the kids cold. Turbo would be the sensible option. I'm really not that desperate for a roundel 🙂
