I found a company that make Rapha look cheap. 😯
Baselayer? Yes please, £189
Gilet? Why not, a mere £295
That's funny. Really expensive, but with all the style of an outdoor range put together by M&S.
I think you mean 'inexpensive tat', rapha is never 'cheap' 🙂
It's expensive so it must be good.
There will always be a market for 'premium' brands to satisfy those who really want to spend more than everyone else.
*bookmarks page for further Rapha bashing comments.
Tsk, £189 and they couldn't even get the product description grammar checked... 🙄
With it’s soft feel
Now I like a bit of cashmere, but in 'performance' gear? Nah.
recently in a shop (for work) in that London - fur waistcoat - yeah I know - £68 Thousand
Black thin cardi £1000
I gave up the will to live after that
Makes Kitsbow look positively bargain basement

There is a skill in releiving stupid rich people of their money.,..
That 'gillet' isn't even a gillet!
Proles. For Scottish made cashmere that's pretty much normal prices, see johnstons, Brora etc.
Unconvinced about the performance claims if only because machine washing 'optimistic'.

True, that. Work out your target audience and get the brand and product right and you can make yourself very wealthy. Look at Rapha...
[vague recollection of economics module at uni] they're called Geffan goods; they become more desirable because they're expensive, which is the opposite of most goods, where demand rises as price falls
I used to wear cashmere tank top or thin jumper under riding gear over the winter in the borders. We used to buy as seconds from Barrie's or Pringles and cut the arms off. Was superb.... My dad moved to New Zealand in 94 and managed swanddri in timaru, result was I ended up with tonnes of seconds from them and still use them to this day.

Not quite. Giffen goods are consumed more as price rises, but when you can't afford anything else. E.g. you can afford to live on mainly potatoes, with occasional more expensive veg and meat for treats/nutritional balance. If the price of potatoes rises, you'll have to give up the veg and meat and substitute for more potatoes

Hmmm, had Rapha had a sale yet when they wrote the textbook on that one?

honestly, when I first saw that site, I thought it was a spoof along the lines of the JVA Rapha stuff.
IHN, are you thinking of Veblen goods?
The suntour wikipedia page makes interesting reading about their pricing policy against that of shimano and campag, and how that affected the brands.
