Apparently the car used was an Audi estate.
So at least they were conforming with type - no-one would suspect them if they loaded a couple of Orange 5's onto the roof and drove off.

The wall was obviously hit by something heavy and powerful

Exactly! So why risk stealing a car to steal some bikes. Why not just steal a more expensive car? only one crime, and half the chance of getting caught.

Maybe they would use the bikes to rob a bank...?

And the money from the bank job can be used to set up a multinational conglomerate.....
