I'm looking for a new crankset. Am I right in thinking that to convert between Boost and Non-Boost on the RaceFace CINCH cranksets it's just a change of chainring? Specifically I'm looking at the Aeffect, but might go for the Atlas.
Yes, it's all in the ring.
It's in the axle and spacers. Until recently there was no boost cinch cranks, they all ran a 50mm chainline I think, which could be adjusted to 51mm. The affect ran 51 which could be made to 52.
I believe you can now get a different 30mm axle version which is 52 out of the box, but don't quote me on that. It's very confusing!
When I switched from a non boost, to a boost frame, I took my cinch cranks with me and just changed the ring. The width of the axle is determined by the width of the bottom bracket shell.
Was that an aftermarket ring? You can get boost/non boost in those but the RF ones always were fixed to 51mm. The updated axle I think is slightly longer and probably has more thread on the cinch to allow more left right adjustment.
