So I'm a philistine, I don't like the noise of my hope 2 makes. I'd like to get something as reliable but silent. What is there? I like cartridge bearings not cup and cone, but otherwise pretty open.

Superstar Switch Evo? They're way quieter than my Hope hubs and (although I haven't had them that long) reliability seems good from the research I did before buying mine. Look easily serviceable too.

I've recently built up a wheel using an Octane One Orbital Pro rear hub. £42 from CRC.

Cartridge bearings, silent in use, can be used qr or bolted.

Happy with it so far.

I seem to have silenced one of my 2 Hope hubs - grease consistency / type may be the answer ) 25-30 hrs of silent SS use so far.. will try the same grease in the other very soon.

The Superstar Switch hubs are really quiet, dunno about reliability yet.

Not completely silent but certainly quiet (compared to ProII )when properly looked after and utterly reliable - DT Swiss 240S

Shimano are really quiet and cheap, you just need to keep on top of servicing with the cup and cone bearings

321. Super fast pick up and more engagements than king. Can't beat that! Who cares if they're noisy or not.

Hope XC, still has the click but very quiet in use. Ive just resurrected one and I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet they are. I may strip the rim off the other one and get it re-laced with a tubeless compatible one.

I use semi fluid grease in my Pro 2's. It stays runny, runs smooth and very quiet compared to a normal Pro 2.

Combo of grease and oil in Pro2's keeps them quiet for a few months at a time.

Mavic hubs in the crossrides are really quiet, nearly silent.

I agree with the DT Swiss, no there not silent but they have a nice subtle precision click worthy of a country renowned for there precision timepieces.
