Looking at google maps, Mansfied station to Eakring road is about 4.4 miles and lets me start at the bike park. Are there any quicker/better options?

If you can then go from Mansfield Woodhouse station rather than the town centre one. This will avoid some city centre style riding and you could even do a mostly off road route to the Pines.
Wouldn't bother 'til it dries out though!

Lots of trees down at the moment, probably not worth it till they're cleared.
