Just shortened the hose on my XT brakes. Daft question, but do you have to crimp the new olive onto the end of the cable or simply slide it on and screw it up?
I've done the latter, it works fine, but I suspect its wrong!

You don't crush or crimp it, the nut compresses it into the lever when tightened, pulling the hose in with it.
