Make the foundation out of logs, rocks and anything you can, but make sure they are fully covered in dirt or idiots will grab the ends of any log sticking out and rip the jump apart!

Pack the dirt down in stages, pile it up, roughly shape and smack it down, pile some more up, repeat. As you get closer to finishing do more precise shaping!

Make a smooth transition, nothnig worse than a jump that smacks your bars back into you as it suddenly kicks up!

Oh yea, if they're kids, build a table top not a double so even the ones who aren't as good, or haven't got the balls, can ride it, and you can extend it as they get better without having to knock down and move the entire landing!

We usually build ours to about the right size and shape then leave it to settle for a few weeks. Usually after its been rained on alot it will have all bedded in and gone a bit harder. We then give it a coat of good soil and shape it properly.

If you ride them too soon they tend to rut pretty badly and wont last long, but if its kids building them then the probably wont care.

Also, make the landings nice and wide and not to steep, far easier to learn on.

And the take off, dont make it steep, just make sure its a nice smooth curve.

The most important thing is drainage or they will never be able to ride them, where ever they have dips put in buried drilled drain pipes that funnel into a drainage ditch. Put in as many drainage ditches as you can.

Don't ride them when they are too wet. You will destroy them and not get enough speed.
