Sorry not to hot on roadie things but would a 28 hole cxp 33 rims on Hope mono hubs be strong enough as an all round training wheel?

Yes. I commuted for nearly 10 years on a set of 22/28 spoke wheels. Depends if you're a light rider or a brutal rider though.

probably be fine, as long as you're not slamming kerbs or cobbles and build sensibly, sheldon brown is full of good tips
cross rather than radial spoke?

Cheers for replies, thinking about it the way the roads are around here and my tubby self i'd stick with the standard 32.
But still are the cxp33 rims any good or can anyone else recommend a decent rim.
