Evening all,
I'm with the other half's family for 10 days at the start of August, but am happily driving over withย the bike so will be able to get a couple of days out in the hills. I thought I would head to Wicklow but it looks a bit far, any suggestions for places to ride within a 2 hr or so drive or Enniskillen.
Very much a winch and plummet type rider! Any advice gratefully received.
Cheers
Bike park Ireland in roscrea. It is 2.45hrs away according to Google maps but if you have a UK reg car just put the foot down to make it in just over 2hrs😉
what about Rostrevor....

If it's trail centres you're after then Rostrevor is the spot. The official trails range from good (xc red/black routes) to poor (the DH trails) but there's tonnes of unofficial DH stuff that's mighty. From tricky DH to over the mountain epic rides. Then there's Bigwood with local made stuff and although it's a small area there's loads of enduroey trails which are easy to find. Just up the road is Tollymore and Castlewellan forest parks that are packed with quality, locally made trails. You might stumble upon the good ones by yourself but there's generally riders about who'll happily let you tag along. Be warned though, a lot of the local DH stuff would be off the scale regarding grading if you're used to trail centre blacks.
Fivemiletown has a wee red/blue trail network in Blessingbourne which is just up the road from where you're staying. Not remotely DH though but fun for a couple of hours.
I recommend a 140-160mm FS over a DH bike if you have one, unless you want to uplift the shitty trailcentre DH trails (have i mention how poor they are? ๐ )
edit: BPI is fun but again a DH bike is overkill
Epic,
Thank you for the advice. I'll be on a capra, so sounds spot on. Cheers!
