Has anyone tried fitting a Shimano bb mount front derailleur to a normal frame, i.e one that does not have the e- type bolt in the frame to further secure the bb mount? Anyone had any success (or failure). Interested to know. I think that seeing as its clamped by the bb shell to the frame anyhow, it is possible, but maybe not quite as secure if the front mech takes a knock. Any thoughts? 🙂

You can get clamps that go around the seat tube and work in the same way that a frame boss would have.
