[#4052659]

Hi folks,

Just had a fairly terrible day in the peaks (Puncture repair to pinch flat ratio not in my favour and had to push 4 miles because of it). Anyway to top it all off I hit a rock on a descent and got a dent in my down tube. I'm not too worried about it but just wonder whether I should be and would appreciate any advise.

Here is a picasa album with some pics:

What do you think? Just ignore it and keep riding?

The paint is chipping a bit so I think I should probably cover it with tape... should I use anything in particular?

Thanks

Andrew - for some reason - that links to my own Picasa album! Where / how did you get the link?

#Edit - and going "incognito in Chrome" I'm getting some Gorilla photos - that's nothing to do with me (honest!)

Ha a very good question! I just copied the link from my browser. After some digging I found this:

Hopefully that will work a little better.

Great - got the dent photos!

Personally - you'll want rid of that asap. I'll take it off your hands if you pay the postage? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Honestly, its not ideal, will possibly be hard to sell, but if it was mine - I'd not be bothered unless using it to try to persuade the missus to increase the bike budget next month. My 2p worth.

Okey doke thanks for the reply - that confirms my thoughts and I wont worry too much about it.

I hadn't really thought about the loss of value until now - that's a bummer... Certainly adds a few months to me being able to afford a Cotic. To be honest I've no idea what the frame is worth anyway - probably not a lot... (But certainly more than free ;)).

Bah never mind I'll just patch it up an keep riding instead of worrying about it.

Cheers for the help.

I wouldnt worry about it. My downtubes covered in small dents and chips.

Its worth touching up the paint to avoid further flaking though. I found a nail varnish that matches my paint perfectly from my girlfriends collection.

that first link linked me to my picasa photo album... which I didn't even realise I had?! Had every photo I ever took on my phone auto-uploaded to it. How extremely odd. Lucky I only take pictures of bikes on my phone .

But yes, the dent is quite large, however I doubt it will crumple. Keep riding.

As above- biggest problem will be when you come to sell it on.

Unfortunately my girlfriend doesn't have the right colour nail varnish - only pastel hues... I'll nip to the shop and get some lacquer instead.

Cheers for the advise everyone. Sun seems to be coming out here in Manchester so I might nip out on it for a few hours while I can. Will pack many more tubes today though, I'm not going to let that happen again...
