[#333255]

I've drop a mail to those who've mailed me to say they're intending or defo coming.

For those who haven't and intend on coming, i need to know how you want or need to be fuelled to climb these 1000metres....so!!!

Options are......
1: stop off at at a nearby greasy food wagon mid ride for egg and bacon/sausage, etc, hot drinks cake and stuff......this is pretty much trailside and i'll need to preorder as much as i can to save the ladytime and to make sure she's got enough things on board.(see attachment for menu) outdoors no seating. or grassy bum.

2: cream tea's as a mid ride treat at the trailside hotel, approx £5.30 per cream tea, (two scones, jam, cream and a cuppa) outdoors seating or if dry conditions indoors at a different venue.

3: Sarnies and cake with a hot drink, indoors if dry and we're clean £tbc

4: post ride buffett meal, indoors, with a bar outdoor pool if you like swimming in green cold water ....£tbc

5: bring your own and we ride and eat on the hills.

6: Those sleeping over/willing to stay on for it.....if the weather is good we could bring BBQ food, and we can spark up some post ride charcoal and eat burnt meat, etc....

discuss.

So far it's greasy food that's ahead on poll.

Yep, mailed you to say the same but folks bringing their own and halfway picnic is easiest all round

Post-ride pint though, naturally.

Anyone not from the west country needs to know exactly what is involved whilst partaking of a cream tea. Anyone with a history or family history of heart problems should under no circumstances enter the tea garden. The clotted cream is thicker than axle grease and can cause cardiac arrest at thirty paces. The tea garden is at the bottom of the ridge and it is highly likely that racing snake types may double their body weight directly before the longest climb of the day. Serial porkers may need med evac.
Anyone putting the jam directly onto the scone, then the cream atop of that, will be run through. There is a strict code of conduct to be observed lest we have you hunted down like a dog.
As you were.

Yep bring our own and eat on the hills.

Post ride pint would be good though.

Won't be staying over or late so not around for a BBQ.

Cheers.

Trailmonkey, the cream certainly destroyed my snack such was it's incompatability with the light a crumbley texture of the scones.

I've a backup plan at the castle o comfort, where i'll employ my 'friend' to prepare the scones in a real west country manner to avoid any mistakes.

Mr Monkey, i'd like to take this moment to thankyou in being part of an awesome days riding and really added to a top weekend.

Ta.

Was a cracking ride... Next time me and Sharki will get more scone in mouth and less on floor i think!
Really looking forward to this ride... Post ride pint will be good but any thoughts on where Sharki? I can bring my own food.. Cola bottles all round?
Im liking the croissant idea, never thought of that, it was much appreciated on sunday, nice and light!
Looks like a BBQ isnt a priority so far. Need to find a nice pub to have an evening snack tho and that pint tho! Pre book me a guiness!

FYI, Forks are back at Ralphies for Fishers to have a look at, bike should be back monday. (How tempting is it to say sod it and get something with travel adjust for the steep climbs?!?!?!)
Checked out my shoooes, Im a size 11, they're a 9.5/10! No wonder my feet hurt with a thick sock on! New Mavic ones now have cleats on ready to go.

Anyway went OT there, but i can get a demo bike for thursday if you fancy it... and sunday if anyone is about this week.

TM, awesome fun in there innit?

Right! A late offering has been made...after the ride there can be chilli and jacket tatoes made available for us at a very low fee of a £1 each.

Again an idea of how many peeps are interested in this would be useful..

also locally produced roadkill sausages could be on offer, the venison ones are wonderful, but the badger is a bit bitter..

Hi Sharki, YGM. I've been away and only just got wise to this Quantocks meet. I'll be scuttling up from South Devon for the ride if that's allright.

Crispybacon, are you really going to ride the route or will you be standing by the trailside, chatting, taking photos and shouting words of encouragement to the STW hardcore who are actually on their bicycles 😉

See you the weekend before at the starting line at Newnham - No Excuses!

but tastes soooo nice from this side of the river Tamar "moi 'ansome!" 😉

Slugwash - that sounds like a challenge mate & one I can't turn down but I'm only taking part if you ride with a saddle on your bike this time 😕

I was riding with a saddle that time. It was in my CamelBack!

Oh, and BTW we like proper clotted cream on our scones on this side of the Tamar, not a dollop of putrid donkey jism as illustrated in that grotesque picture you've posted above. Yukkk 😉

- LOL

& I always thought we got our Rodda's clotted cream from the cow’s milk! but now I know why the Donkey Sanctuary @ Gunnislake has some pretty popular 'cream' teas 😕

Er, where are the Quantocks exactly

I think you'll find 'which do you have first on your scone, jam or cream?' is more important 😉

chilli by sunset view, so if it's a march like last year it'll be an awesome way to end the ride.

a place to sleep has been arranged, room for 24, 4quid each or min of 48 quid.

So if anyone else decides to join in for post ride drinks there's somewhere dry and warm to kip.
So bring a sleeping bag incase.
Single beds only!

I went to visit my dear old mum today and asked her about this important subject, she said cream first then jam! the other way round is the Cornish way (and we all know they eat there own young down there) 😀

And she's always said that Rodda's cream is orrible greasy stuff not nice like Devon cream.

well then if Mrs Dibbs snr says cream first on the scone then I suppose I'd better try it that way just the once. I only hope I don't get caught by the Kernow cream tea Plod on the way home tho 🙂

So if the Cornish & Devonians have different jam/cream/scone habits how do you Zummerzet geezers eat yours? probably with a pint of cider & The Wurzels playing in the background 😉
