Used to frequent the Quantocks quite a bit in the past and would often stop off at Holford Carpark (Bowling).

Got a chance to have a ride around the area again and thought about Holford.

I assume its still there and is still free ? (Car Park that is!)

Regs,

RT.

@marsbarman

Thanks. Job, Jobbed 🙂

Now I need to plan a route again. Smiths Coombe ... still worth it ?

Parked there today , personally although my ashes are supposed to be scattered down Smith's I've decided there are better descents down there .

@oldfart how wet or dry is it up there?
Planning a Quantocks ride this weekend, and wondering if it's dried out since last week?

Ah, maybe I'll leave it. Was on Woodbury today and it was almost dusty in places. The joys of pebblebed heaths and sand!

Smith’s I’ve decided there are better descents down there .

Quite so.

Smiths and Weacombe are regarded so from when mtb was a different beast.

Wettest March in 40 years and lots of rain again last night. Shame as 6 weeks ago trails here were summer-esque

Oh, and car park is free, but has been full every sunny weekend day so far this year, so early or late is best

Stert into Somerton Combe back down to Holford are one of my personal favourites. Slaughterhouse is another good blast but end up down the same final section to Holford.

Haven’t ridden up there for a couple of weeks, but it was wet when I last did and the continued rain we’ve had down here definitely will have soaked out the wooded areas.

Frog combe (into bottom of Holford) and Bincombe are favourites.

There's some marvellous trails either side of the valley on the other side of Dead Woman's Ditch.

Was really nice today, dried out a lot since Wednesday. Bit busy close to the carparks.
