quick Q. looking at getting some myti carbon bars for the gravel bike which will need normal mtb levers. Was wondering if sram red or Hope RX4 flatmount calipers work ok with mtb levers. Cant use my usual MTB brake set as no room for postmount in the rear triangle
You can buy SLX and XT flatmount calipers here for example. There was some info i saw recently saying the RX4 calipers don't play well with servowave levers (Most Shimano MTB levers are servowave) but this could all be untrue.
Should work, but don't mix SRAM and Shimano. The RX4 comes in different versions for SRAM/Shimano.

Yep, SRAM is Dot 4 (IIRC) and Shimano mineral oil.

so finally, im ok to use a set of xt / xtr levers with xt flatmount calipers no problem...
