Any thoughts?

I would have thought these will be brought second hand, unless I come into some money.

thanks in advance.

I have some non pushed 36 float RC2s and some pike RCT3s.
I hate to say it (as they were 50% cheaper), I prefer the pikes.
Probably doesn't help.

Depends on year of the 36s as there are several versions from the last few years.
The 2015 36 float rc2 in 'standard' spec. (haven't adjusted valving yet) are better than the pikes I had.

Subjective isn't it ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you have the money, 2015 Fox 36's. If not Pikes.

Pikes can suffer from one or all of the following....bushing bind through rock gardens if ridden aggressively, steerer creak and stick down due to grease clogging up the solo air spring. Other than that they are brilliant. 36's only ever seem to have an issue with steerer creak and that seems fairly rare.

Fox service intervals are now every 125hr.

Just as a note, my push'd 34 is more than an adequate match if not better than my pike, just been serviced again and it's riding fantastic, just take your time setting it up correctly then you just ride, no knobs to twiddle with as its balanced lovely.
I'd love a 36 but that's huge wedge of cash to then push it too, ouch!

The most noticeable thing jumping from a 36 to a Pike is that the 36s are much stiffer. They track much better and inspire more confidence. You'd never miss it if you've never had it as the Pike isn't exactly a wet noodle, but the 36 is something else.

Damping wise my Fit RC2 feels better than any Pike I've tried. But that part is probably subjective.

I had a very early 2015 36 and it rode very very harshly. I then bought another one and it rode totally different, everything I expected. It turns out some of the early ones had a very, very stiff hight speed shim stack. It was later changed.

The 36 is incredibly stiff, it's just point and go.

Think most people will agree (including all the reviews i've read) theres not much in it. Obviously the 36 is a tad stiffer but then so will your bank balance for months.

Jay C and Fabian both win and are happy on the Pike so thats good enough for me.

Just buy a 36, you won't regret it.

Does not suffer with the damper shitting itself every so often like a pike either.

I've had 2 sets of Pikes in 18 months.

The first set suffered creaky CSU syndrome, so were replaced.

The second set, I sheared the damping rod & it punched a hole in the lowers. They got fixed. Then they also started creaking.

Now I have 36's.

Jay C and Fabian both win and are happy on the Pike so thats good enough for me.

They are fairly open about the fact they don't run standard internals - just the chassis. Not the easiest to compare like for like.

And they have probably selected the best quality chassis components as well, or even had them manufactured by a small specialist instead of a large factory.
