I've read about this on TF tuned's website but I'm still a bit confused about it. Can someone summarise the benefits of it in a couple of lines?
I currently have an RP23 in a Yeti ASR5c and it's due a service so I'm wondering if it's worth push tuning it...
Thanks
Tuned to suit your weight, riding style and the bike's kinematics.
Most shocks fitted are based around Mr/Mrs Average so the internals might not be right for you if you are lighter/heavier/jumpier than a 'normal' person. The PUSH tune sets it right, for you and your bike. I believe the dyno test the shocks to suit the leverage etc of the bike's suspension.
I had a CTD shock done and it's brilliant. Well worth it IMO.
I had one for a while, I think the best way I could describe it is "more coiley"- felt much more reactive off the top, which is what I asked for. But it seems like it's pretty adaptable.
The trouble with suspension tuning is you've got to have a fair idea of what you want. Usually talking with a good suspension person will help a lot.
TF Tuned are pretty good on the phone at advising what kind of tune you might want. I did it to my one on my SB66 and yeah, not exactly something I'm good at describing but I was pleased with the result. It seemed to be better through the middle of the travel in particular. And then it gets to where I started second-guessing myself for placebo effect but it seemed to be really peppy as well, like every time I come out of a compression or whatever I feel like it's pushing on fast. Uh. Words. Perhaps that is what Northwind was describing there as well. You get a special sticker on it too, so it's definitely quicker.
I've put a Vorsprung Corset Air Sleeve on my Yeti 5 (from TF). Has changed the feel of the shock quite a bit (and I like).
That's maybe next on my list, actually. I need to find out if it's going to be beneficial to have one of those and the push tune or if they aren't particularly complementary when one's following the other.
If you're happy with it anyway I wouldn't bother.
Rp23 with correct tune feels as good as a pushed shock to me.
When I spoke to TF regarding the Vorsprung Corset they said that, for the pushed shock I have, it could have a detrimental effect on my shock. Sounded like it's one or the other and not both. Maybe a corset, then push might work tho.
