DT ex500 tubeless.
But also using an Eskar(which is bigger) tubeless on an XM719, no burps or noticeable tyre roll.

as an aside, in what dimension is an 819 bigger than a 719 ?

Interesting replies so far, keep 'em coming !

Tubeless on Easton havoc UST (23mm).

819 is the UST tubeless version of the 719 - it's the same width.

719s tubeless here - on both my FS bikes.

Bike one has Conti Rubber Queens. I'm Purgatory curious, so this thread is relevant to me.

Bike two has Spesh Storm / Captain.

Is anyone running a butcher front, purgatory rear? Is this a good idea?

P35 tubeless. 29" 2.2 and 2.3 Purgs (look about the same casing size to me).

They're not quite as big as some suggest, a step down from an Ardent 2.4 and a bit smaller than a 2.2 RQ, so about right for the listed size. Great wet-weather all rounders.

Yes, butcher front, purgatory rear on Arch Exs tubeless. Amazingly grippy and relatively fast-rolling set-up for most conditions. Although the butcher isn't as bulbous as the purgatory if you like your front bigger than your rear 😀

Butcher front, Purg rear on Mavic Crossrides, ghetto tubeless using Gorilla tape.

wilko99 - Am considering the butcher/purg combo (both 2.3), but interested in your comment on sizing, are you saying the equivalent butcher comes up a little smaller than the purg, by how much would you say?

Rear on Traversee EL and tubeless. (and a 2.35 Nevegal on the front).

Personally I suspect that if people didn't know they had narrow rims, most wouldn't notice any tyre roll... Maybe we should blind test this and run around swapping wheels on people 😉

Tubeless purg on rear and butcher on front. Cross trail wheels impressed so far maybe a bit of roll on purg but on rear and does not bother me. Butcher is v good IMHO and paid 52 quid for the pair not far off 1 maxxis

Hard to quantify without having the bike in front of me. Maybe a couple of mm across the widest part of the tread? Not sure on height. I'm going to have to check now, just out of sad curiosity 🙂

Butcher vs Purgatory:

(The Purgatory 2.3 is on the same size carcass as the old 2.2 version - marketing! 😉 )

Arch, tubeless

Is anyone running a butcher front, purgatory rear? Is this a good idea?

Yes. Yes.

If this is in relation to tyres rolling on rims, my feeling is it is a side effect of tubeless - there is less there to be solid. Someone posted a video of their tyre rolling around on tubeless recently, mine aren't that bad but it is noticeable, more so on low speed techy stuff where balance is more important. my Arch rims are relatively narrow though.

Purgatory 2.3 on Pacenti TL28, currently tubed cos I've been too lazy to set it up tubeless!

Nice profile to the tyre though, and grips very well!

Tubeless on flow and P35. Might try stretching it across a dually at some point.

I got a pair of Purgs because the front Butchers weren't available at the time. More than happy with them, but just ordered a Butcher to go on the front out of curiosity more than anything else.

Purgatory 2.3 front, Captain 2.2 rear, on crests.
(No noticable difference in size between the two BTW.)

Sorry, forgot: Tubeless.

ARCH EX tubeless.
Purg 2.3 front(new) purg 2.2 back(old)
The new 2.3 seems to come up massive compared to the rear. Great grip no roll or burps. run at 28psi +-
