I got my first puncture in about 18 months last night. Funny because I couldn't find my pump when I was packing the car and gave up looking thinking 'I won't need it, I never get punctures'. Lucking I found it at the bottom of my kit box when getting ready in the car park. So far the puncture gods have been kind to me. I hope this isn't a sign that i've fallen out of favour with them. Would it help if I sacrificed a Goat or something?

Was that an MTB rear wheel? Depending on your rim tyre combo, you can probably get away without levers at all ( [url=

<-- the step shown from 0:37 where he's taking up the slack in the bead, working it all toward the far side of the wheel, is crucial).

With or without levers though, I always pump the tube up a little bit before popping the second bead in. Helps it into the tyre a little, and makes it easier to pop out from under the bead if it does get caught, since the rest of the tube is trying to pull it back instead of sitting in there like wet lettuce.

Had some really bad rim/tyre combos that wouldn't shift without levers (even with the techniques above) and there is always a chance of nipping the tube etc.

Though since tubeless it's not really been an issue

Had two days away last week.
Puncture 1 happened as I'd finished for the day at Llandegla and was rolling back into the car park. Perfect really, got fixed in my hotel room at night.
Puncture 2 happened clattering through a rock garden on Wibbly Wobbly at BPW. First spare tube was knackered, second fine. Took about three minutes to swap, the steanger who was following me and stopped to see if I was OK started chatting to me and didn't even realise I'd sorted it.

Temperature in the high 20s and smooth repairs I can handle. Sitting in the side of a road trying to get my roadie trye off in the rain I can live without,
